Performing Arts Profile

Your passion and talent come from God.

Dallas Baptist University helps you develop those into marketable skills so you can give back and make a difference in the world for Christ.

Pursue your passion
We know you have choices when it comes to attending college: In state. Out of state. Private or public. When it comes to earning a degree, you could do that almost anywhere. Finding and following your passion and pursuing your call—that is another matter.

When it comes to discovering what you are uniquely placed on Earth to do—and equipping you to do it—there are not many places where you can learn to pursue your passion while following God’s call to serve others. Dallas Baptist University is an exception.

A university of distinction
You are unique among your peers. Your university of choice should be too. Dallas Baptist University is distinctively equipped with great opportunities to finely tune each student’s God-given gift. With an average class size of 11 students, you will receive personal attention from your professors and be given excellent opportunities to hone and practice your performance abilities.

The DBU faculty are well known in their fields and highly accessible to students. Exceptionally qualified professors, not graduate assistants, teach all our courses. Professors take their responsibilities seriously for mentoring, advising, and challenging each student throughout their college experience and beyond.

The opportunities you need to succeed
DBU presents a skill-based emphasis in everything we teach, so our students receive both the opportunity to exercise their talents
and the discipline to perfect their craft. Above all, your education will take place in a Christ-centered community that promotes the freedom to live out your Christian beliefs in the classroom and the world through Christian or secular performance.

Students choose DBU because they want to use their gifts and talents to help others. Through service learning opportunities integrated into internships, our students have the ability to learn hands-on ways to serve through performance. Additionally, students can practice their skills beyond a formal internship, with opportunities ranging from performing at the Meyerson Symphony Center and the White House to leading Chapel worship to participating in GRAMMY U—“a unique and fast-growing community of college students...who are pursuing a career in the recording industry.”

DBU offers state-of-the-art facilities, including performance spaces, a MacLab, a Broadcast Control Room, a multipurpose classroom with green screen and lighting, and a premier recording and mixing studio. The professional reputation of our faculty and alumni and the quality of instruction translate to high placement rates for jobs or graduate school opportunities.

Big-city living, small-town feel
Dallas is a prime location to launch a performance career. It’s the ninth-largest city in the country and the fourth-largest metropolitan area. It has been called the cultural center of Texas, with over 14 entertainment districts and the largest urban arts district in the nation. Students benefit from DBU’s central location between downtown Dallas/Fort Worth—all while enjoying the small-town feel of the DBU campus community.
