The University of Scranton is a Catholic, Jesuit institution that delivers a transformative education grounded in the liberal arts to over 3,600 undergraduate students. Our 58-acre campus offers the best of both worlds—the city and the mountains. We are located in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Northeast in the heart of the city of Scranton, a vibrant college town that’s home to five colleges and universities. You’ll have many choices here. With 69 majors and 50 minors across three colleges, faculty and staff work with students to choose a combination of majors and minors that suit them as individuals.
Students enjoy small class sizes and extend their academic experience through participation in honors programs, internships, student-faculty research, and study abroad. The University also provides excellent preparation for medical and other health profession doctoral programs, law school, graduate school, and postgraduate fellowships and scholarships.
In addition to conducting high-level research alongside professors, our students find abundant opportunities to apply classroom learning in the real world. We encourage all students to gain experience through internships, and they regularly collaborate on professional and service projects within the local community and beyond, all contributing to their future career success. In fact, 99% of the Class of 2020 were employed, continuing their education, or engaging in service within a year of graduation.

Of the first-year student aid applicants enrolled for the 2021–2022 academic year, 99% were offered funding from University scholarships and need-based grants. The average financial aid package, not including parent and private loans, was $37,000.

Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program (SJLA): Four-year program that develops writing, oral, and critical-thinking skills through courses in philosophy, theology, and literature
Business Honors Program: Four-year honors studies geared toward students interested in pursuing academic excellence in Business
Business Leadership Honors Program (open to all majors): Selected sophomores explore basic theories and concepts of leadership
The Magis Honors Program in STEM: Undergraduate students pursue a more intense, interdisciplinary research experience in STEM fields; includes a series of 1.5-credit seminar courses culminating in a senior thesis project
The Honors Program (open to all majors): 40 and 50 of our most able sophomores take seminars together and work one-on-one with professors in tutorials and on projects
