We are well into 2023, and that means it’s time to buckle down and complete some scholarship applications so you can cut down on your college costs. The following scholarships include opportunities for high school, undergraduate, graduate, trade school/vocational, homeschooled, international, and adult students of all backgrounds. We recommend finding the categories that best apply to you and starting from the top of the list down to get the closest deadlines out of the way first. Good luck!

Scholarships for high school students

• AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship: Offered by the Atmospheric Meteorological Society, this scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are US citizens, have a 3.0 GPA, and plan to pursue a degree in atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences (Marine Biology does not meet this requirement). Recipients will receive half the award during their first year of college and the second half during their sophomore year. Award: $5,000; Deadline: February 3
• Elks Legacy Awards: These scholarships are available to high school seniors who are children and/or grandchildren of Elks Club members. Recipients are required to perform three instances of service with an Elks Lodge during the four years they receive the scholarship. Awards: $4,000; Deadline: February 6
• Tupelo Elvis Fan Club Scholarship: Open to graduating high school seniors from Mississippi, this scholarship asks applicants to upload a performance in honor of Elvis Presley to enter—but you don’t have to be pursuing Music in college to be eligible. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: February 14
• Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is open to high school seniors with a parent working in the financial services industry. Applicants must be US citizens, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Seven recipients will receive approximately $12,500 per year over the course of their college education. An additional $5,000 is awarded to the scholar with the highest GPA each year. Awards: Up to $50,000; Deadline: February 16
• Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarships: High school seniors who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities can apply for this award. Applicants must submit an essay addressing multiple provided essay topics. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: February 20
• The Cardinal Newman Society Essay Scholarship Contest: Any high school seniors pursuing higher education at a Catholic institution should consider applying for this award. In addition to a 400-600-word essay that demonstrates appreciation for faithful Catholic education, the Society requires applicants to sign up for their “Recruit Me” program, explore some of their resources, and use their college search guide to be eligible. Awards: Up to $20,000; Deadline: February 21
• AMS Minority Scholarship: The Atmospheric Meteorological Society offers another scholarship that focuses on high school senior minority students who’ve been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black students. Like the Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship, this award is renewable and split over two years, and Marine Biology is not eligible. Award: $6,000; Deadline: February 24
• Smith Diversity Scholarship: The Coyner and Donna Smith Diversity Scholarship Fund is open to Nebraska high school seniors pursuing four-year or trade school programs and have demonstrated financial need. These scholarships are organized by Lutheran Family Services, and preference is given to students from disadvantaged ethnic backgrounds. Awards: Up to $25,000; Deadline: February 28
• International Young Eco-Hero Awards: Sponsored by Action For Nature, this scholarship is open to students worldwide ages eight to 16 who have completed a substantial project that helps the sustainability of our planet, with preference given to students whose projects are ongoing or took over two years to conduct. Award: $500; Deadline: February 28
• Maude and Alexander Hadden Scholarship: This scholarship from the Youth Foundation is open to high school seniors who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be US citizens, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and showcase scholastic achievement, leadership, and volunteerism. Standardized test scores, two letters of recommendation, and a maximum 750-word essay are required. Awards: Up to $5,000 annually for four years; Deadline: February 28

Scholarships for high school and undergraduate students

• AWM Student Essay Contest: Sponsored by the Association for Women in Mathematics and Math for America, this award is offered in three categories for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students. Applicants are required to interview a woman currently working in or retired from a mathematical career and write a 500–1,000-word essay. All genders are welcome to apply, and awards don’t need to be used for educational expenses. Awards: Amounts vary; Deadline: February 1
• Renaissance Scholars Program: Graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students in Oregon and Illinois must be the first in their family to obtain a bachelor's degree to be eligible for these awards. Applicants must also be planning to attend a college or university in Oregon or Illinois but do not have to be a US citizen. The Foundation offers a separate award for HBCU students attending Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina Central University, or Stillman College. Each scholarship is renewable for up to four years. Awards: $4,000; Deadline: February 1
• Watson-Brown Scholarships: These scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students from certain counties in Georgia and South Carolina who are attending or planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. The award is mailed to each recipient’s school twice yearly. Awards: Up to $3,000 per semester; Deadline: February 8
• Davidson Fellows Scholarship: Named one of the top seven most prestigious scholarships by U.S. News & World Report, this opportunity is open to US citizens ages 18 and under (with no minimum age requirement) who have completed a significant piece of work in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, literature, music, philosophy or “Outside the Box.” Significant work means being recognized as meaningful by experts in the field with the potential to make a positive contribution to society; examples include a creative application of existing knowledge, a new idea with high impact, an innovative solution, a prodigious performance, etc. Teams up to two people are also eligible and will split the award if chosen. Awards: Up to $50,000; Deadline: February 15
• Web Design Scholarship: Sponsored by the company Lounge Lizard, this opportunity is open to US high school seniors planning to enroll in college within six months of applying as well as current US college students. Applicants must submit a web design file for consideration. Award: $1,000; Deadlines: February 19 (and October 3)
• RMEL Foundation Scholarships: These scholarships are open to high school seniors or current undergraduates pursuing or planning to pursue an electric industry position certificate or undergraduate degree. Applicants must be permanent US residents. Award: Up to $3,000; Deadline: February 24
• Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program: This opportunity is open to students with a demonstrated learning challenge, including dyslexia or a similar reading and/or language-based disability. Applicants must be pursuing a STEM-related degree at a technical school, community college, or undergraduate program in the fall. A letter of recommendation from someone who knows you well and can speak to your challenges and successes relative to your learning challenge is required. Awards: Up to $2,500; Deadline: February 26
• (ISC)² Undergraduate/Associate Scholarships: (ISC)² and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education awards up to 20 scholarships to students pursuing (or planning to pursue this fall) an associate or undergraduate degree with a focus on Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a similar field. Applicants do not have to be US citizens but must have a GPA of at least 3.3 and be attending school full- or part-time in the US or internationally. Several short-essay questions and a letter of recommendation are required as part of the application. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: February 28
• 1^st Financial Bank Financial Goals Scholarship: This is a monthly scholarship open to US residents who are 18 or older and planning to enroll or are currently enrolled in a college degree program. This is a random drawing, but it does require applicants to submit a short essay of 500 words or fewer. Award: $2,000; Deadline: February 28 (last day of every month)

Scholarships for undergraduate students

• Boren Awards: Offered to both undergraduate and graduate students, the Boren awards assist students traveling and studying abroad for research and language study in world regions critical to US interests. Their program promotes linguistic and cultural immersion. Awards: Up to $25,000; Deadline: February 2 (undergraduate deadline)
• Washington Media Scholars Foundation Case Competition: The Washington Media Scholars Foundation holds a Media Plan Case Competition for undergraduate students enrolled in any academic program at a US college or university. To compete for this award, applicants are required to compete in teams of two to come up with a strategic media plan based on a hypothetical public policy issue. Students are allowed to apply individually as well but will be paired with a random team member if selected. Awards: $18,500; Deadline: February 3
• Y.C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship: Undergraduate Civil Engineering students can apply for this scholarship, which is awarded to two recipients. Applicants must submit a personal essay on why they want to become a civil engineer and two recommendation letters, among other application requirements. Award: Up to $5,000; Deadline: February 10

Scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students

• SBB Research Group STEM Scholarship: Students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate STEM programs full-time at a college or university are eligible for this scholarship, including international students. Applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or fewer on their most significant STEM experiences and how they'll use STEM principles to improve the world. A total of 12 scholarships are available throughout the year, with one awarded each month. Awards: $2,500; Deadline: None; applications accepted year-round on a rolling basis
• SWSIS Scholarships for Women Studying Information Security: SWSIS offers three scholarships for women studying Information Security in their junior or senior year of an undergraduate or master’s program. Applicants must be US citizens and attending a US university. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: February 1
• Roothbert Scholarship: This opportunity is open to US undergraduate and graduate students pursuing any academic field who are spiritually motivated in their lives. Preference is given to students from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. Awards: Up to $7,000 per year; Deadline: February 1
• Parkinson’s Summer Research Fellowships: The Parkinson’s Foundation offers the Summer Student Fellowships Program to support advanced undergraduate and medical students in their pursuit of Parkinson's-related summer research projects. Fellowships comprise 10 weeks of clinical or laboratory work under the close supervision of an expert sponsor. Recipients may also apply for up to $1,000 in travel funds to attend a related scientific conference to present their research upon project completion. Awards: $4,000; Deadline: February 3
• Libbie H. Hyman Memorial Scholarship: Advanced undergraduate students and grad students seeking to do zoology research on invertebrates at a field station should apply for this scholarship from the Society for Integrative & Comparative Biology. Applicants are encouraged to seek guidance from their academic advisor when writing their proposal. Award: Up to $3,500 (amount varies each year); Deadline: February 6
• Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a major or minor in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Criminal Justice who want to pursue a career in fraud examination or similar anti-fraud professions. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: February 6
• OAWWA Scholarships: The Ohio branch of the American Water Works Association offers three scholarship opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, and adult continuing education students in the state who are pursuing water industry education, which can include Science, Engineering, Management, and Computer Information Systems. Applicants must submit a personal statement. Awards: Up to $4,000; Deadline: February 10
• Scholarships 4 Moms: Moms deserve educational support too! This award is for US citizens ages 18 and older who are mothers or expectant mothers. Applicants must be enrolled or soon to be enrolled at a college or university in the United States to enter this sweepstakes drawing. Award: $10,000; Deadline: February 15 (and August 15)
• Emerging Black Architects and Norm Zimmer Scholarships: Sponsored by ZGF Architects, these scholarships are open to undergraduate and graduate students entering their final year of an accredited Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Planning & Design, or Landscape Architecture degree program. One winner will be chosen for the Norm Zimmer Scholarship, while two students are chosen for the Emerging Black Architects Scholarship. Depending on the scholarship, applicants must include an advanced-level design project or an academic portfolio, among other requirements. Recipients are also eligible for an optional paid internship. Awards: Up to $10,000; Deadline: February 17 (for both)
• Explore America Travel Scholarship: HI USA's Explore America program helps young Americans with demonstrated financial need kick-start their travel dreams. Applicants must be 18–30 years old and a US citizen or permanent resident, including DACA. In addition to 25 general awards, 10 Explore America Scholarships will be awarded to legal residents of New York City, plus one Peggy Stevens Explore America Scholarship to a current or former Girl Scout. Recipients also receive free pre-travel workshops, planning assistance, and a complimentary one-year HI USA membership. Awards: 4–7 free nights at a select HI USA Hostel, plus a $1,500 travel stipend; Deadline: February 21
• ISA by World Strides Scholarships: Multiple opportunities are available with this scholarship program for studying abroad or traveling during a gap year. Students can travel and have an immersive experience in Australia, England, New Zealand, South Korea, and Spain. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadlines: February 28 (summer deadline; other deadlines include April 30 for fall and October 30 for winter/spring)
• LAGRANT Foundation Scholarships: These scholarships are open to African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American/Alaska Native students who are US citizens, permanent residents, or DACA eligible. Applicants must be pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or PhD programs in Advertising, Marketing, or Public Relations and hold a minimum GPA of 3.0 (3.2 for graduate/PhD applicants). Awards: Up to $3,250; Deadline: February 28
• Pat Tillman Foundation Scholarship: Military service members, veterans, and military spouses who are full-time undergraduate, graduate, or professional-level students are eligible for this award, which is given to 60 scholars each year. Applicants must demonstrate clear academic goals through two short-essay submissions, among other requirements. Awards: Average of $10,000 per academic year; Deadline: February 28
• KnowBe4 Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship: The world's largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform offers this scholarship to students who identify as female and are pursuing (or planning to pursue) a degree focused on Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a similar field. Applicants must be a graduate student or an undergraduate first-year, sophomore, junior, or senior this fall (PhD students are not eligible). Other requirements include US citizenship, a 3.3 GPA or higher, several short-essay questions, and more. Award: $10,000; Deadline: February 28
• Indian Health Service Scholarship Program: IHS offers three different scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing preparatory courses, undergraduate degrees, and graduate programs in different health professions. Applicants must be a member of a federally recognized Tribe and 18 years or older with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Awards: Covers tuition, required fees, and other educational and living expenses; Deadline: February 28

Scholarships for graduate students

• Gertrude M. Cox Scholarship: This opportunity is open to women who’ve been admitted to a full-time graduate Statistics program by July 1 of the award year. Applicants must also be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada. Women in or entering the early stages of graduate training (MS or PhD) are especially encouraged to apply. A personal essay and three reference letters are required. Awards: $1,000; Deadline: February 23
• (ISC)² Graduate Scholarships: Up to 20 scholarships are available to students pursuing (or planning to pursue) a master’s degree or doctoral program with a focus on Cybersecurity or Information Assurance. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and can hail from any country. Several short essays are required, among other materials, and students may reapply each year. Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: February 28

Scholarships for (basically) everyone

• Employment BOOST Academic Scholarship: This scholarship is open to US high school seniors as well as two- and four-year college students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher. Applicants may be pursuing any major, but one of two scholarships will be given to a student pursuing Business or STEM fields. An essay of 500–1,000 words is required. Awards: $1,000; Deadline: None; applications accepted year-round on a rolling basis
• Ascent Shining Stars Scholarship Giveaway: This scholarship will definitely appeal to today’s students. All you have to do is follow @AscentFunding on Instagram, like and bookmark the scholarship post, leave a comment about something you learned in 2022 with #AscentSponsored, and complete the application form on their website. Applicants must be 18 years or older, a legal US resident (DACA students included), and enrolled in a full- or part-time degree or technical skills training program. Parents of these students are also eligible to apply. Award: $1,000; Deadline: February 1
• Environmental Awareness Scholarship: In association with ReuseThisBag.com, this scholarship is open globally to high school and college students of any age. There are also opportunities for student groups and classrooms to apply. Two scholarships are available, and an essay about climate change is required. Awards: $1,000; Deadline: February 1 (and September 1)
• WMU Foundation Scholarships: These scholarships are open to Southern Baptist students as well as children of Baptist missionaries. Applicants must submit two endorsements to be considered: one from a WMU leader or church affiliate, and one from a teacher or professor. Award: Amounts not disclosed; Deadline: February 1
• Ascent Community Champions Scholarship: Ascent offers another scholarship contest through their Instagram account that’s easy to enter. In addition to submitting an entry form, applicants must follow @AscentFunding on Instagram, like and bookmark the corresponding post for the scholarship, and leave a comment sharing their favorite piece of financial advice. The same eligibility requirements as the Shining Start Scholarship Giveaway apply. Award: $1,000; Deadline: February 15
• Innovation in Education Scholarship: This monthly scholarship is open to high school and college students who write an essay on an innovative project they’ve designed that makes a difference in the lives of others. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a US or Canadian citizen. Award: $500; Deadline: February 20 (same date every month)
• MyMozaic Scholarship: This monthly scholarship sweepstakes is open to US citizens who are 13 years and older. All you have to do is provide your email address to apply. Award: $1,000; Deadline: February 28 (last day of every month)
• DoSomething.org Strength Through Service Program: DoSomething.org’s program helps everyone by providing opportunities to earn volunteer credit hours, help local communities, and be entered to win scholarships. There are five service campaigns to participate in, including clothing, food, and feminine hygiene product drives; cleaning up litter; and recycling aluminum cans. Students younger than 26 years old can enter each scholarship drawing upon completion of their service hours. Awards: $2,000; Deadline: February 28
• New York Water Environment Association Scholarships: The NYWEA offers several scholarships that are open to residents from New York (and students attending college in New York) who are pursuing full-time academic programs with an environmental focus. Over $50,000 in scholarship funds are awarded annually for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students. Awards: Amounts vary; Deadline: February 28
• (ISC)² Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarships: (ISC)² also offers up to 10 scholarships to inspire women to join the ever-growing field of information security. These awards are open to graduating seniors, undergraduates, and graduate/postgraduate students pursuing (or planning to pursue) a degree focused on Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a similar field. Applicants can hail from any country but must have a 3.3 GPA or higher. A letter of recommendation, several short-essay questions, and other materials are required as part of this application (please note that students must submit separate applications to each of this sponsor’s scholarships; they cannot be combined). Awards: Up to $5,000; Deadline: February 28
• ScholarshipPoints $2,500 Monthly Scholarship: With multiple drawings held each month, your chances of receiving this award (and your odds of qualifying for additional scholarships) are increased by taking surveys, reading blogs, and other easy activities on ScholarshipPoints.com. Students of all levels are eligible but must create a free account and be at least 13 years old, a US citizen or legal permanent resident, and currently attending (or planning to attend) a college in the US.
