Johnson & Wales University, founded in 1914, is a private university that focuses on experiential education opportunities for students, providing industry specific labs on campus through international internship programs. Its comprised of four campuses in Rhode Island, Florida, Colorado, and North Carolina. Its 69-acre campus in Rhode Island is located in Providence. As one of the first colleges founded by women, Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales, a progressive and pragmatic approach to learning has defined the education model since 1914.
