And to help them transform into those civic-minded residents, we proudly provide six major academic units, consisting of the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Management, the College of Health Sciences, the School of Education & Human Services, the School of Nursing, and the new College of Innovation & Technology, that each offer compelling, in-demand programs that prepare students for their futures.
UM-Flint, which recently celebrated its 65th anniversary and is proud to be one of only three campuses of the world-renown University of Michigan, continues to grow academically with new degree offerings, expanded partnerships with local and regional entities and industries and remains committed to the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion by making an affordable, accessible education possible for all.

Downtown Flint is a thriving community with a unique energy and flavor all its own. It has a robust and vibrant cultural community, and is considered a hub of education within mid-Michigan. There are many ways that you can get involved during your time at the University of Michigan–Flint. We encourage you to join or start a student club/organization, become a member of a fraternity or sorority, attend a program sponsored by the Center for Gender & Sexuality or the Intercultural Center, participate in a program sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), or play in a club sport.
The work of Student Involvement & Leadership (SIL) is about learning, engagement, and inclusion. Our goal is to offer opportunities for students to:
• Become engaged and responsible leaders
• Develop life skills and an understanding of one’s values, interests, and goals
• Think critically and creatively, solve problems and develop new ideas
• Be inclusive of people with various identities and perspectives, while embracing a diverse campus community
We know that students’ education success is increased when they are active participants in the learning process both in and outside of the classroom. Involving every student in a meaningful way to learn and develop themselves leads to a rich and transformational college experience.
