The University of Denver: Where phenomenal happens

The oldest and largest private university in the Rocky Mountain region, the University of Denver is distinguished by a liberal arts curriculum within a research-based institution and a student population dedicated to serving the public good. Our 130-acre campus sits in a semi-urban setting 15 minutes from downtown Denver, and is renowned for its beauty, ample green space, and state-of-the-art technology combined with classic architecture. The newest addition to the University of Denver is the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus, a 724-acre wilderness retreat located two hours from DU’s main campus. This mountain extension of the University of Denver will provide all students with the opportunity to connect and engage deeper with their peers and with nature, at no additional cost.

Approximately 6,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students from 50 states and over 80 countries are brought together in an environment that prizes not only adventurous learning partnerships between students and faculty, but research and internship opportunities for all students in all disciplines. With an average class size of 24 students and a 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio, the personalized education students receive is unparalleled. The University of Denver’s unique 4D Experience is our commitment to a customized, holistic education that will prepare students to navigate their life and career after graduation. Everything we do at DU is designed to guide students in advancing their intellectual growth, promoting well-being, exploring character and pursuing careers and lives of purpose. Through our quarter system, students are able to pursue many different academic interests within these programs—it’s not uncommon for a student to tackle more than one major or minor. And while we want our students to thoroughly experience everything Denver and the surrounding area has to offer, seeking out global perspectives is a hallmark of a DU experience. Through our Cherrington Global Scholars program (consistently ranked among the top 10 study abroad programs in the country), DU offers study abroad options on six continents at no additional cost, allowing over 70% of students to participate.

Outside the classroom, students enjoy not only NCAA Division I competition and over 100 clubs and organizations, but a vibrant metropolitan city and world-class recreational opportunities in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Denver boasts 300 days of sunshine per year and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation—it’s a campus and city our students are proud to call home.

• 18 Division I Athletic teams who have won 11 Learfield Sports DI-AAA Directors’ Cups in the last 13 years

• 95% of DU undergraduate students receive some form of merit or need-based financial aid.
