Build your future at The George Washington University

Founded in 1821 by an Act of Congress, The George Washington University (GW) offers more than 75 majors and over 2,000 courses across seven undergraduate schools. Our location in the heart of the nation’s capital gives students access to power. Whether you're focused on our amazing academic and service opportunities, learning on a global scale through our study abroad program, conducting undergraduate research, or having in-depth discussions with some of the world's most respected leaders and industry experts, GW students have endless opportunities to put their knowledge in action.

With the White House, US Capitol, and Supreme Court nearby, learning doesn’t end in the classroom. Our students can conduct and participate in research projects across the District. They grow through service to our community, with projects sponsored by the Nashman Center for Civic Engagement. And they intern with great companies and organizations, choosing from more than 12,000 opportunities, including at the White House, the World Bank, and the National Institutes of Health. We provide our students with an authentic and original student life experience, fostering a sense of community on both the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, which are just a short shuttle ride away from each other.

All of this combined with our need-aware approach to financial aid, an open dining plan that gives students access to over 100 food and grocery partners, a 50% solar-powered campus making major strides to become carbon neutral by 2040, a worldwide alumni network of over 290,000 Colonials, and so much more makes GW a great place to further your education and build your future.
