Science & Engineering Profile

With five new programs and a welcoming and supportive community, it’s an exciting time for students at Thiel College.

The College’s new and innovative Environmental Safety Management degree is the only one in Pennsylvania with environmental science at its core. The program opens the door for Thiel graduates to capitalize on growing market opportunities forecasted for Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York—the US Bureau of Labor Statistics has put that trio among the top five states expected to see the greatest job growth in the field.

Students can also choose from new programs in Equestrian Studies, Exercise Science, Health Systems, and Sports Management or select one of the College’s other 60+ majors and minors. Thiel’s Department of Education and Department of Business Administration and Accounting have been recognized nationally for their job and graduate placement rates, student-based focus, and dedicated faculty.

Thiel (rhymes with teal) was founded as a coeducational institution—half the second graduating class were women—and that spirit continues today with the College’s open and inclusive environment. In addition to traditional learning environments, students have access to internships, volunteer opportunities, service learning, research opportunities, and practicums that give students hands-on learning to become leaders in the workplace and community. A challenging and supportive Honors Program pushes students to grow and learn in new—sometimes unimagined—ways.

Getting outside the classroom
A vibrant and active academic environment is matched by an impressive array of student-life activities. More than 100 clubs, activities, societies, and team sports provide options for leadership and learning outside the classroom. The outdoors is an important part of the Thiel College experience too. Located in northwest Pennsylvania, the campus is surrounded by rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and nature parks. It's conveniently located in the mid-Atlantic renaissance triangle that includes the financial, tech, and health care hubs of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo.

Superior graduate outcomes
More than 94% of the College’s reporting recent graduates are currently employed in their field or attending graduate school. The Thiel College Career Development Center prepares students for the workforce and graduate study. Through internships and network connections, Thiel graduates and students are in touch with a 15,000+ member national and international network.
