Health & Medicine Profile

Those who are knee-deep in health science know how great the Creator is.

A fuller knowledge of how the human body works can only bring us closer to the One who makes it tick. The professors who oversee the learning in the Department of Science and Mathematics at Grace believe that a Christian perspective in this arena is life-altering and career-defining. They believe—and encourage their students to believe—that God not only created all that we know, but also gives us sufficient evidence of His creation.

So while we study biology, anatomy, and chemistry, we unite the classroom experience with the worship experience—soaking in a scientific knowledge about the majesty of God’s creation while humbly recognizing and extolling Him as the Creator.

This mindset informs all of the health and medicine programs we offer:

Nursing
Grace partners with Bethel University to offer a degree in nursing. Graduates of the program have a strong history of passing the state board examination on the first attempt, qualifying for licenses as registered nurses.

Medical Imaging
The medical imaging major is delivered in collaboration with John Patrick University. Majors have the option of specializing in either nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sonography or computed tomography (CT).

Health Science
The Health Science major prepares students in biology and chemistry for professional ambitions in science and medicine, including PreChiropractic, Pre-Dental, Pre-Medicine (DO or MD), Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Podiatry, and Pre-Veterinary.

Exercise Science
The exercise science major takes an applied learning approach, allowing opportunities for hands-on experiences and introducing students to a wide variety of career options in wellness, fitness, and applied health. This program prepares students with the foundation needed for graduate degrees in Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, and Occupational Therapy.

Location

Grace’s campus sits on the top of a hill that overlooks the quaint, picturesque village of Winona Lake, Indiana. And according to Niche.com, Winona Lake is “one of the best places to live in Indiana"

An Inside Look

What students are saying about us...

  • "One of the most important qualities of this program is that the professors, clinical instructors, and advisors all have a huge heart for the individual students. Learning how to care for patients while also having the support of a whole team of excellent faculty allowed me to gain the confidence I needed to make it through the program and become a nurse.”

    • Colton Andrews, nursing major
  • “Grace has prepared me for the next step of graduate school through being involved as an athlete and a coach, as well as the emphasis they put on education and making sure each student has what they need to succeed.”

    • Allison Vroon, exercise science major
