Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective, nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences college. At Gettysburg, “Do Great Work” is more than a tagline. We believe learning means doing and that a college education should prepare our students to be great and do great work.

With a 9:1 student-faculty ratio and an average class size of 17 students, our academic experience is centered on connection. From our First-Year Seminar program to student-faculty research opportunities, our strong academic tradition extends beyond the classroom. 

At Gettysburg, you’ll engage in interdisciplinary learning, advanced scholarship, and global leadership through one or more of our academic offerings, including any of our five distinctive programs—the Center for Public Service, the Civil War Institute, the Eisenhower Institute, the Garthwait Leadership Center, and the Sunderman Conservatory of Music—as well as semester-long study abroad opportunities through the Center for Global Education; the Cross-Disciplinary Science Institute (X-Sig); the Center for Career Engagement; Experiential Education programs; and more.

With so many options at Gettysburg, it’s easy to take ownership of your cocurricular experience. Our students are involved in more than 120 clubs and organizations and choose from 800 events to attend each year. As an athletic powerhouse, Gettysburg’s 24 varsity athletic teams compete in the Centennial Conference, one of the top NCAA Division III athletic conferences. In addition, campus recreation and intramurals give everyone an opportunity to get involved.

At Gettysburg, the community our students join includes our network of over 30,000 active and engaged alumni who are just as committed to preparing future leaders as we are. Students can explore various career fields through internships, externships, job shadowing, career immersion trips, and networking events—more than 80% of our students complete at least one internship or externship by the time they graduate. Additionally, 98% of our students have secured employment or are pursuing graduate school within just one year of graduation.
